Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy is the healthcare discipline concerned with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of human communication disorders: speech, language, voice, hearing and orofacial functions such as swallowing. It covers both paediatric and adult populations, ranging from language delays in children to voice rehabilitation in professionals or dysphagia after a stroke.

At Fontanet Medicina i Fisioterapia we offer a comprehensive speech therapy service for patients of all ages. In children, we work on speech and language delays, articulation disorders (dyslalia), stammering, reading and writing difficulties (dyslexia) and autism spectrum disorders. In adults, we treat dysphonia, aphonia, dysphagia, post-stroke aphasia and vocal rehabilitation.

Our speech therapist performs a thorough initial assessment to establish an accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment plan. Sessions are personalized and adapted to each patient's therapeutic goals, combining in-office exercises with home practice guidelines.

We work in coordination with our paediatric neurology service to provide a multidisciplinary approach to childhood neurodevelopmental disorders that present with language impairments.
